La Fra

La Fra is the artistic identity of singer and composer Francesca Frigeri Ferretti—an emotional space where stories, melodies, and groove meet. Born in a small town in Italy, she has always felt connected to the world at large. At 24 she moved to sparkling Barcelona, a city whose cultural richness deeply influenced her sound and musical voice.
Her artistic search blends Jazz Manouche and global folk, drawing inspiration from the vast richness of Brazilian and Latin American traditions, and the power of song. With a warm, smoky alto voice—often compared to Lhasa de Sela—, La Fra explores the intersection of music and words with theatrical sensitivity.
Her original songs reflect on femininity, transformation, roots, and our connection with nature, weaving personal storytelling as woman and artist with a global musical vocabulary.
She co-founded the World Music band Saffran!, sharing a glimpse of her universe and surreal frenzy; she is also a member of MiraMundo, Maracuyá, and Akajú, all based in Barcelona. Over the years she has collaborated with artists including Luiz Murá, Carola Ortiz, Jabu Morales (Ayom), and Cindy Pooch, among others.
Beyond music, La Fra is a versatile, curious creator—always exploring, always experimenting, always becoming.
